FAQs for Teachers & Leaders
Planning a school trip or homeschool co-op tour can feel overwhelming—but at GO Tours, we make it simple, organized, and meaningful. Our boutique approach ensures that every detail is thoughtfully handled, from transportation and accommodations to educational materials and faith-based experiences. Below, you’ll find answers to the questions we hear most often from teachers and group leaders, helping you feel confident and prepared as you plan a life-changing journey for your students.
General Questions
GO Tours is built around purpose-driven, educational travel that connects classroom learning with real-world experiences—and, when desired, with faith-based reflection. Each trip is personally designed for your school, led by trusted guides, and supported from start to finish by our dedicated GO Tours team. Because we’re a boutique company, you receive top-of-the-line trip planning, materials, and service—without the inflated costs of the large tour providers. With GO Tours, you get the best preparation, the best support, and the best value for your students and families.
Absolutely. Every GO Tour is built from the ground up around your school’s goals, grade level, curriculum, and desired destinations. Whether you want to highlight history, service, leadership, or biblical themes, we tailor the itinerary, lodging, and even your educational materials to make it a perfect fit for your students.
We specialize in educational and Christian faith-based travel for schools and homeschool groups. Our most popular destinations include Washington, D.C., New York City, Williamsburg, and other East Coast destinations. We also do performance groups trips around the country and mission experiences in places like Belize. Each tour combines hands-on learning with opportunities for reflection, service, and spiritual growth.
Most schools start planning 9–12 months in advance, though we can work with shorter timelines if needed. Early planning allows for better airfare, hotel, and activity options, and gives families more time to prepare and fundraise.
Registration & Payments
We create a custom online registration portal for every school’s tour. Students and families can log in directly from our website to sign up, make payments, and access trip details. Trip leaders can see each participant’s progress, payments, and forms in real time, keeping everything organized and stress-free.
Families can pay online by credit card or through EFT or ACH transfers directly from their bank account—without any additional fees. Payment schedules are flexible and can be adjusted to fit your school’s timeline. Our goal is to make paying for a trip as easy and stress-free as possible for both families and teachers.
We know that sometimes plans need to shift. GO Tours works closely with schools to provide the most flexible options possible in case of cancellations or major changes. Each trip includes basic travel insurance, and we also offer optional enhanced coverage that protects against unexpected events like illness, weather delays, or family emergencies. Our team personally assists schools in navigating any adjustments, ensuring your group is cared for every step of the way.
Yes! Every group receives a custom web portal that includes a fundraising feature. Students can personalize their own trip page and share it via email or social media so friends and family can contribute directly toward their costs. We also provide schools with fundraising tips, resources, and templates to help families reach their goals.
Trip Logistics
Transportation is included as part of your tour package. GO Tours partners with top national airlines—most often United, Southwest, and Alaska Airlines, as well as American, Delta, and JetBlue—to provide dependable, convenient flight options for your group. Once on the ground, we arrange all safe, licensed motorcoach transportation and coordinate local transfers. Most groups still choose to handle their own transportation to and from their local airport and baggage fees, but we can include those details if desired for a completely turn-key experience.
We select clean, comfortable, and student-friendly hotels that balance quality with affordability. Common choices include Hampton Inn & Suites, Courtyard by Marriott, and Fairfield Inn & Suites. We always consider how close your group wants to be to major attractions compared to your budget priorities. When possible, hotels feature breakfast, interior hallways, and gathering spaces for group time or evening devotionals.
Each tour is built around your group’s specific needs. We work with small homeschool groups of fewer than 20 as well as full classes or multi-grade school trips. Schools may include as many parents and chaperones as they wish—our team will help you determine the right ratio for your group’s age, size, and itinerary.
Most schools find that a ratio of about 1 adult for every 5–10 students works best for middle and high school groups. This ensures students are well supervised while chaperones can stay focused on building relationships and guiding students’ learning experiences. We’ll help you find the right balance for your group.
Health, Safety & Security
Student safety is always our highest priority. All accommodations, transportation, and activities are carefully vetted, and we partner only with licensed and trusted providers. We also hire additional nighttime security in our hotel hallways to ensure that students remain safe and everyone can sleep securely. Our staff and guides are trained in safety protocols and emergency procedures, and teachers and chaperones are fully supported so they can lead their groups with confidence.
Our team is prepared for any situation. In a medical emergency, we immediately contact local emergency services or 911 and stay with the student until care is complete. For non-emergency needs, we assist in accessing urgent care, hospitals, or local pharmacies and help with necessary prescriptions. We also keep both trip leaders and families informed, ensuring that no one feels alone in the process.
Yes. Every trip includes basic travel insurance, and additional add-on coverage is available for those who want extra protection. Insurance typically covers situations like trip cancellations, medical emergencies, or travel interruptions. We walk schools and families through their options so that everyone travels with peace of mind knowing they’re protected.
Educational & Faith Component
Every GO Tours itinerary is designed to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences while providing meaningful opportunities for spiritual reflection. We provide a list of specific biblical themes and ask group leaders to identify which are most important to them. Those themes are then highlighted throughout the tour and incorporated into each student’s Tour Book, ensuring the trip reflects your school’s faith priorities and curriculum goals.
Each school receives a customized educational Tour Book created specifically for their group and itinerary. The Tour Book includes:
Background information for the sites your students will visit
Maps and embedded videos
Famous speeches connected to key locations
Questions and reflections built around the tour’s biblical and educational themes, such as faith, valor, truth, leadership, or being an image-bearer
Some schools even choose to use a grading rubric, allowing students to earn a grade that counts toward coursework back at school. The Tour Book helps students prepare, engage deeply during the trip, and reflect afterward, making learning long-lasting and meaningful.
GO Tours trips provide students with hands-on learning, cultural immersion, and opportunities for personal growth. From exploring historical landmarks and museums to participating in service projects, group reflections, and devotional moments, students develop critical thinking, teamwork, and a broader understanding of the world—all framed through a Christian worldview.
